The Comeback: A Day of Power, Peace & Possibility

The Comeback was a women’s day retreat that was held in a stunning space called The Venue downtown Saskatoon.

It was a self-care day that was obviously needed as you could see it in the way women left the event as they were exchanging hugs, handshakes, and heartfelt words, connected not by circumstance but by shared understanding. Every woman who attended had weathered something hard causing a major life disruption, loss, or unexpected turning point that had reshaped her life.

But the day wasn’t about what had been lost. It was about what had been found.

The Comeback was a day of reflections on healing, resilience, and coming forward.

As the speakers took the stage, stories unfolded of pain transformed into purpose and of courage discovered in the most unlikely places. Each story carried a thread of truth: healing is not about returning to who we once were, but about becoming who we were meant to be.

Growth often comes from being tested. Transformation often begins when something we love or depend on is stripped away, whether that’s a job, a relationship, or the health we once took for granted. The biggest battle isn’t out there; it’s within ourselves. Yet, as many women shared, when life dismantles our sense of certainty, it also clears space for something new — strength, self-trust, and clarity about what truly matters.

One panelist said something that lingered in everyone’s hearts:

“I think it’s more of a coming forward than a comeback, because we may not want to come back — we’ve gained so much more.”

That simple reframing captured the spirit of the day. The Comeback was never about erasing the hardship. It was about honoring it and recognizing that survival itself is sacred, and that every scar tells a story of strength.

Throughout the day, women connected not through perfection, but through authenticity. There was laughter, tears, deep listening, and an unspoken understanding that healing is not a solo act. The empathy in the room was palpable, each woman holding space for the next. By the end of the day, many described feeling lighter, seen, and supported — reminded that peace and possibility can coexist with grief and growth.

For some, The Comeback was a beginning. For others, it was a continuation of healing already underway. But for everyone, it was a reminder that we rise higher when we rise together.

My mission in coming up with the concept and organizing The Comeback event was to provide hope to those going through hardships as I believe hope is contagious. This wasn’t just an event for me, it was personal as I am in the midst of my own comeback and wanted to share some lessons learned.

As the event closed, there was a sense of renewal, a shared knowing that while life will always hold challenges, we have the power to write new chapters from unforeseen circumstances and struggles.

A heartfelt thank you to my co-host, Tammy Zdunich from The Well Collab, whose warmth and vibrant energy helped me bring this event to life.

To our inspiring speakers and panelists, thank you for sharing your truth with such courage and compassion. And most of all, to every woman who attended — thank you for showing up with open hearts, for your vulnerability, and for your willingness to share your experiences to support strangers. Your bravery created the very essence of The Comeback: connection, healing, and hope.

Because the real comeback isn’t about going back — it’s about rising forward.
